NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - New Tennessee Titans receiver Randy Moss
says he's sorry things didn't work out with in Minnesota and that
he isn't upset with the Vikings or coach Brad Childress for waiving
him. Moss spoke today for the first time since Minnesota waived him
Nov. 1. Moss insisted he isn't in Nashville - his third NFL city
this season - to start any trouble.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Coach John Fox of the Carolina Panthers
has announced that Jimmy Clausen will start at quarterback this
Sunday against Tampa Bay. The rookie out of Notre Dame is replacing
the injured Matt Moore, who needs season-ending shoulder surgery.
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - Jeff Francoeur (fran-KOOR') has become a
free agent after refusing a minor league assignment from the Texas
Rangers and clearing waivers. Francoeur hit .340 with two homers
and 11 RBIs in 15 games for the American League champions after
being acquired from the New York Mets on Aug. 31.
UNDATED (AP) - Two top-25 college basketball teams are in action
this evening. In Pittsburgh the fifth-ranked Panthers are facing
Illinois-Chicago, while in Champaign, 13th-ranked Illinois is going
up against the Toledo Rockets of the Mid American Conference.
NAGOYA, Japan (AP) - The United States has reached the
semifinals of the women's world volleyball championship in Japan.
The Americans qualified for the final four despite losing to
top-ranked Brazil in five sets. The U.S. will face Russia, while
Brazil will go against Japan.
