Conley leads Grizzlies to fourth straight win

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) — Mike Conley scored 19 points, Zach Randolph had his 31st double-double and Memphis won its fourth straight game Tuesday night, 105-91 at Detroit. Randolph had 15 points and 10 rebounds and the Grizzlies rode a strong second half to win in both teams' first game since the All Star break.

Iconic Lakers owner Buss dies at 80

LOS ANGELES (AP) — NBA commissioner David Stern says Jerry Buss was a "visionary owner" whose influence on pro basketball will be felt for decades to come. The L.A. Lakers owner died Monday at the age of 80 due to kidney failure, according to his assistant, Bob Steiner. The Lakers won 10 championships and went to the NBA Finals 16 times after Buss bought the team in 1979.

Patrick takes pole for Daytona 500

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — No woman had ever captured the pole for any race in NASCAR's premier circuit until Danica Patrick's performance in Sunday's qualifying session for the Daytona 500. Patrick was the eighth driver to post a qualifying time, finishing in 45.817 seconds and averaging 196.434 mph. Jeff Gordon was the only other driver to top 196 mph in qualifying, giving him the other spot in the front row for next Sunday's race.
