Madison Academic Ousted In Semi's

Madison got behind early 11-0, cloesd the gap to 4 but, a cold day from the field spelled defeat for the Lady Mustangs.  Madison shot 19% from the field(13-66) and Jackson County pulled away to a 54-32 final. Madison was lead by Jasmine Washington(12), Dakota Smith(6pts 12 rebounds), and Taylor Davis(8 & 8). Madison Academic ends its season as Region 8 Champions, and a spot in the Class A semi-finals with a record of 26-11.

Titans, K Rob Bironas reach agreement on new deal

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Tennessee Titans have agreed to terms keeping kicker Rob Bironas off the free agent market and with the team he has spent the past eight seasons.

The Titans announced the deal Thursday. NFL.com and The Tennessean both report the deal is for two years.

Bironas, 35, ranks as the third most accurate kicker in NFL history, connecting on 85.6 percent of his attempts. He trails only Al Del Greco as the franchise's leading scorer with 916 points.

He has 11 game-winning field goals. He also has the NFL records for most field goals made in a game with eight and most consecutive games with a field goal 40 yards or longer at 10.

Bironas scored 110 points and was 25 of 31 on field goals last season.

Grizzlies Rally Behind Gasol; Vols Win On Road; Vandy Swamped In FLA

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Marc Gasol had 23 points and 12 rebounds, Jerryd Bayless scored all 13 of his points in the final 13 minutes, and the Memphis Grizzlies beat the Portland Trail Blazers 91-85 Wednesday night. Memphis, which won its second straight and 10th in the last 11, rallied from 17 points down in the third quarter.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Kenny Boynton scored 15 points, Pat Young added 14 and Florida routed Vanderbilt 66-40 Wednesday night to clinch the Southeastern Conference regular season championship. Florida won its fourth outright league title and third under longtime coach Billy Donovan.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Tyler Stone scored 24 points off the bench, shooting 11 of 12 from the field, as Southeast Missouri won its third straight game by defeating Eastern Illinois 78-68 Wednesday night in the first round of the Ohio Valley Conference tournament. The sixth-seeded Redhawks shot 63 percent in the first half, including 6 of 12 3-pointers, to lead 42-29 at the break.

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) — Jordan McRae and Trae Golden each scored 21 points to lead Tennessee to an 82-75 come-from-behind victory over Auburn on Wednesday night. Trying to keep their NCAA tournament hopes alive, the Volunteers went on a 14-2 run in the final minutes after rallying from an six-point deficit early in the second half.

Madison Academic knocks off Collinwood in State Tourney

Madison Academic lead from start to finish and will play Friday at MTSU in class A semi-finals. Madison opened up a double digit lead in the 1st half and cruised to a 65-48 win over Collinwood. Madison was lead by 6'4" Sophmore Dakota Smith (19) and nine rebounds, Senior Cayla Sheets(18), and Senior Taylor Davis (10). Madison will play Friday at 1pm on Jackson's News/Talk 101.5FM, wnws.com, and wnws app on iphone.
