Steve
Bowers began hosting “Daybreak” in February 1994. Early co-hosts
included Steve Hemann, Dave Colvett
and Keith Sanders. The show replaced the original News-Talk morning
show co-hosted by Ken Galey and Mary Ellen Cheatham. Early days
included live sports reports with Diamond Dave McCulley.
Greg Wood joined Steve in 1996 and that co-hosting arrangement has
continued without interruption.
Steve’s broadcast career originated in Decatur, Alabama with WHOS-AM
and WDRM-FM. As a high school student, Steve worked weekends and
summer vacation replacement slots for the regular on-air staff.
After a college major in Religion and a ministry career of six
years, Steve returned to radio in 1976 and has worked since in West
Tennessee radio, newspaper, television and corporate communications.
In addition to “Daybreak” with News-Talk 101.5 FM, Steve manages
corporate communications for the Jackson Energy Authority and
produces and manages programming for E+TV6, the cable channel for
JEA’s EPlusBroadband system (www.EplusTV6.com). Steve also hosts web
sites including
www.DixieFriedMusic.com,
www.WestTNBusiness.com ,

Bowers also hosts “Steve Bowers’ Prime Time Drive” 3-6 p.m. M-F at
News-Talk 101.5 FM. That show originated in February 1994 following
the pattern set by James Rambo who did the original afternoon news
show starting in 1993. Bowers left that show in 2004 and returned in
2009.
